We are constantly trying to keep you up to date with all the latest software news and WhatsApp is no exception. We have recently reported on upcoming updates including WhatsApp chat filters, disappearing WhatsApp messages, and new powers coming to WhatsApp group admins. As WhatsApp is a continuously evolving app, these updated features will themselves continue to evolve, and that is what we are reporting on today.

WhatsApp Download Now

A screenshot of a very early introduction screen for the already released disappearing messages feature has been spotted in the latest beta version of the app. WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.22.11.16 shows what looks to be a feature introduction tab for disappearing messages.

As you can see, the screenshot only includes Latin placeholder text, but the team at WABetaInfo do think there is some relevant information we can take from the image. They point to the presence of a bookmark icon, which could indicate that you may soon be able to save the messages you set to disappear after a certain amount of time. That could be an interesting development for a feature that WhatsApp continues to work on.

Better link previews for WhatsApp status updates

Another WhatsApp beta feature that has been spotted, this time for the iOS version of the app, is improved functionality for the WhatsApp status update feature. This simple update takes all links that are shared to WhatsApp via status update and grabs relevant information to create a rich preview of the content found at the link.

This preview includes information like the headline of the content, a sub-headline, and a variation of the featured image or header of the page. This contrasts with the current version of the status update link share feature, which simply shows the text of the link.

So, there you have news 2 simple updates that are in development for WhatsApp, one for the Android version and one for iOS. Most WhatsApp features are consistent across both versions of the app, but the features roll out to different development and launch schedules. If you are a big WhatsApp fan you may be interested to learn that WhatsApp will soon introduce multi-device support for your account.
