WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business offer two distinct experiences to both personal and professional users of the popular messaging platform. Understandably, businesses may need to have more “pro” features than an average user and so WhatsApp offers them these features in the version of the app that they have to pay for. It now looks like WhatsApp is going to share a WhatsApp Business feature with all users.

The particular feature in question here is the advanced search filters for Business accounts, which allows them to quickly filter through all of the messages in their WhatsApp inbox. As it stands, regular WhatsApp users can’t apply these filters to their own inboxes but according to a recent beta test version release of WhatsApp, the filtering feature could be about the get a wider rollout.

The chat filtering feature allows users to quickly filter out their messages based on some pre-defined criteria including Unread messages, Contacts, Non-contacts, and Groups.

Interestingly enough, the leak, as reported by WABetaInfo, seems to show the feature working on WhatsApp Web, which means the feature should be available on desktop as well as mobile versions of the app. Obviously, the feature will also roll out to the Android and iOS versions of WhatsApp too.

Unfortunately, as WhatsApp is still developing this feature, we can’t give you any details about when you should be able to expect it to land on your phone. It did roll out to all members of the WhatsApp beta testing program a couple of weeks ago, however, so we can assume that it is already quite far along the development process, and we will likely see it launch over the next few months. While you are waiting, why not check out our handy guide to help you find people on WhatsApp.
