A bug in the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android seems to be resetting the privacy settings of some users. People are reporting that their privacy settings have been reset: if you have your ‘Last Seen‘ set to My Contacts or Nobody, you might find it has been reset to the default ‘Everyone’.

German site Caschys Blog showed how both the iOS and Android versions of the app were vulnerable to the bug. This doesn’t seem to be related to any update, although WhatsApp for iOS was updated on Monday with iOS 8 compatibility.

Being able to hide your online status and last seen stamp is very popular with some people. If you do have your status hidden, you should check your settings by going to Settings > Account > Privacy to find out.

Download WhatsApp for iOS and Android.
