As part of its effort to catch up to its competitors, WhatsApp is working on allowing users to create polls in group chats. Additionally, the previously-reported upcoming Communities feature gets its own dedicated tab on the interface. These are currently planned for WhatsApp Beta for Android and for iOS.

There are still a lot of Whatsapp features under development to keep up with its rival apps. Nevertheless, features teased for WhatsApp Beta just this first quarter of the year are quite promising and will surely be a hit once publicly released.

One of the long-awaited features currently in development is the ability to conduct polls when in WhatsApp groups. So far, the leaked preview shows a text field where users can type in to enter their questions for the poll, and the Create and Cancel buttons on the top corners of the screen. There are no details yet as to how many choices you can input by default.

Aside from this, further progress has also been made for the Communities feature. Meant for connecting with people who have the same interests, this is considered to be a more organized version of group chats that can be easily controlled by admins. Currently, a new dedicated tab has been made for it—replacing the camera tab in the interface. When opened, it will display all communities you’re a part of.

These are still not available for beta testers but like all of the features announced, they’re expected to be released sometime in 2022. Since the other features are also slated to be released for the desktop client, then we can soon expect some news about these two, as well.
